Q: How long does it take to get my computer back?
A: It's dependent on the initial problem and our current workload. Software issues are typically repaired in 2-3 days. Hardware issues where parts need to be ordered or repaired, one week to one and a half weeks minimum. Work days do not include weekends or Holidays.

Q: Can I wait at your shop while my computer is services?
A: No. At any given time all my workstation spaces are filled up.

Q: I don't want to risk personal data loss. What do you suggest?
A: Bring us a portable drive and we can back up your personal data (for a fee) prior to performing repairs/diagnostics.

Q: I need my computer back ASAP. What can you do?
A: We have priority service which means your computer gets to go ahead of the line for an additional fee. May not apply toward all circumstances. Does not guarantee a specific turnaround time. We just work on yours the same day instead of the next day.

Q: How safe is my personal data?
A: We service computers from high profile clients, attorneys, professors,  and doctors who trust is with their data.

Q: Do you warranty your services?
A: 30 Days Labor Warranty. Parts warranty by manufacturer/vendor which can range for example 7 days, 14 days, 30 days, etc.

Q: How long do I have to pick up my equipment?
A: You have 60 days to pick up your equipment once you have been notified. After 60 days any items that are unclaimed are disposed of.

Q: I noticed visits are by appointment only. What if I need to take my computer in for immediate service?
A: Same day appointments can usually be made.

Q: I live out of your area but I would like for you to service my equipment. To whom can I address my equipment to?
A: Please address it to Alhambra Computer Services, 612 E. Ross Ave., Alhambra, CA 91801.
A: Please insure and box your device properly.

Q: What do I need to bring or do prior to visiting you?
A: Only bring chargers/adapters for laptops, tablets and 'All In One' computers. I do not need typical desktop computer power cords.
A: Remove any and all passwords if possible.
A: Remove any USB adapters, etc.
A: I will not need to keep carrying cases.
A: Bring any System Recovery CDs.

Q: What types of repairs do you outsource?
A: At the moment we outsource anything that requires component level repair (soldering) such as motherboards to a qualified 3rd party. Because of this, it does require at least one week turnaround time.

Q: I need Data Recovery Services. What should I bring?
A: Bring a working portable drive so that we may place any recovered data on to. We can supply them for a fee.
A: Bring any adapters/cables associated with your device.

Q: I have an appointment. What if I cannot keep my appointment?
A: Please be courteous and let us know ahead of time via text so that we may reschedule.

Q: What does a Tune-up involve? It involves getting your computer running like new.
  • Diagnose performance problems and provide estimates for solutions.
  • Optimize start-up and shutdown.
  • Test storage device for errors (Bad-blocks and bad sectors).
  • Optimize your Internet connection.
  • Clean up menu, quick launch and taskbar shortcuts.
  • Remove unwanted programs, trialware, and bloatware.
  • Clean up registry, temporary files, and unncessary files.
  • Install critical system updates
  • Update existing software.
  • Review anti-spyware and anti-virus definitions.
  • Run an anti-virus, anti-spyware, and anti-malware scan. Does not include removal.
  • Defragment the disk for file performance.
  • Performing the regular "health test" for your drive and predicting its degradation, so you will be able to prevent data loss and backup your files before you will have to contact the data recovery service.

Q: Will the tune-up increase my computer’s speed?
A: Typically users do see increased performance after a tune-up, but every computer is different.

Q: I would like remote computer services. How do I go about doing this?
A: Please contact me and we determine if you need to bring the computer to our shop.
