LCD Issues and Repairs
- Dim Image (use a flashlight to see if an image is visible)
- Funny Characters
- No Image (total darkness)
- Loose Hinges
- Cracked Display
- Image only shown on one side
- Horizontal Lines
- Vertical Lines
Possible replacements/fixes/repairs:
Replace LCD includes bulb | Replace Inverter | Install an LCD Unit | Replace/Reinsert LCD Cable | Reinstall or Download the latest Video Drivers. The later only resolves video issues once windows has booted up. If you don't get an image upon turning on your Laptop, then it's hardware related.
Many shops don't replace the bulb because it's a delicate operation. We can but prefer not to because it's more affordable to replace the LCD most of the time.
Part Availability:
There are thousands of LAPTOP parts that it's impossible to keep a stock of each one. Thus, any item that needs replacing will need to be ordered.
What to do prior:
If possible try to connect an external monitor to your laptop and send the image to it. How? Hold down the function key (bottom left on most laptops) and one of the functions keys (should have an image of an LCD) to confirm that the VGA chip is not bad/fried on your laptop.
